    • Great minivan option but annoying issues

Bought car new. Manual transmission. Excellent seat space. Bucket seats front and middle. Can fit 4 comfortably and 6 with very small third row. With 4, still have excellent cargo space. rear doors are sliders like vans so really easy entrance. Very sharp looking car. Good mileage. I get around 26mpg overall. Very good acceleration. They say it's noisy interior. I love driving this car. Smaller than regular van but still really good space to move kids stuff. Suspension issues. Had to replace all 4 shocks. Rear shock mounts had to replace twice due poor design. Muffler issues are biggest problem with this car. Car is no longer made and muffler does not fit any replaceable OEM. Now have multiple warning lights on - muffler leak, engine vacuum value, ABS sensor. Looking at 1500$ in repair mostly for muffler. Now not sure I will keep it any longer since trade-in value nears what this repair will cost.
    • Love this car!

I purchased this car in July 2011 which was the brand new 2012 model. It was my first ever brand new car. All past car purchases were used. I got the basic model at around 20,000 because that's what I could afford. My van at the time needed too many repairs so I researched and decided to buy the Mazda. I still have this car and love it! This car has taken us on long trips, 50min daily drives back and forth to work, chemotherapy treatments for my husband for multiple myleoma who passed away in 2017, wedding dress shopping for my daughter, and other family events or happenings. I wish Mazda made another one like it because mine has so many miles and worried about driving long distances now and having problems occur. It was really worth purchasing thus car. Thanks for making such a great vehicle.

Bought this Mazda 5 new 8 years ago & it has been a great vehicle. No mechanical issues & plenty of pep! Handles well. The styling is ok considering it is a mix of wagon & mini-van type. Planning on buying a new car soon & will miss my '5".
